Luminace Empowers Future Innovators with Chicago City Solar Site Walk

LUMINACE, News, May 22, 2025 – Luminace proudly hosted an exclusive solar site walk at its Chicago City Solar facility for students participating in Illinois State University’s SUPERCHARGE program, a STEM-based educational initiative with Chicago high schools. The event provided students with an immersive, firsthand experience of a large-scale solar installation and the real-world applications of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Guided by a Luminace representative, students explored the Chicago City Solar array while learning about the fundamentals of photovoltaic systems and their critical role in advancing sustainability. The tour highlighted Luminace’s commitment to clean energy innovation and educational outreach, aiming to inspire the next generation of energy leaders through experiential learning.

Chicago City Solar, located in Chicago’s West Pullman neighborhood, stands as one of the nation’s landmark urban solar installations. Built on a 41-acre site that formerly housed a paint factory, the facility has been transformed into a 10-megawatt ground-mounted solar array. Featuring 32,292 solar panels, Chicago City Solar is designed to generate enough clean power to serve up to 1,500 homes annually.
