Dunbar High School was the first school in Washington, D.C., to receive energy produced from our solar panels and was the largest rooftop solar power system on a single building in the District when it was commissioned in 2013. The more than 543,200 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year supplies approximately 20% of the high school’s estimated electricity needs. Electricity generated by the system is purchased by the District of Columbia Department of General Services under a 20-year power purchase agreement. This project helps support Dunbar High School’s LEED building requirements.
